Default A welcome visitor returns on time

Today saw the return of our resident Osprey, each year he appears in the last few days of march to april.
This bird amazes me and it its always good to see him return in his glory.Thats him here now to august.Hope the weather is good.

The other birds that maybe someone can answer for me is the pied wagtail and the robin.Do they migrate at all as you tend to only see them at certain times of year?

At the site where I work i've had a resident Pied Wagtail all winter and don't think robins do either.
I know that some birds migrate fairly short distances, so some of the birds you might think are your regulars may have come down from further north.

I believe both Robins and Pied Wagtails are "permanent residents".

Robins lose there red breast until winter so they blend into the background a bit more during the rest of the year.

We once had a bird visit us here in Manchester but she was from Salford and nobody would take a second look at her,,,,,,,,,,,

No they don't. They're red all year round unless it's a juvenille and not in full adult plumage.
