Basically its sticking the rod under your armpit use both hands to strip the line hand over hand.

Practice it because it can be deadly, as it is sometimes on my C & R water. The fish must get bored rigid seeing the same short pulls and the figure-of-eight retrieves all the time and must grow vary wary of them

Yep, fast sinking line and an Ace of spades ripped back as fast as you can muster - guaranteed result! Not really fishing though. I use the roly poly technique when Bass and Pollock fishing, as basically you could never retrieve faster than the fish can swim.

After I Christen it

But the roly poly's no good for me one double handed strip and the meagre amount of fly line I put out would be at my feet

Still it's not all about casting it's about catching

Nevermind mate I'll be back up soon to show you how it's done

Hi' Tom. The roly poly is easy to learn, but if your fish are like most I have come across at this time of year, unless you have water that is warmer than ours, you should get by with a single hand retrieve. All the books tell us that we should fish more slowly in cold water. And if your water has warmed up, you should be able to take fish on suggestive wet patterns, as the bugs on the bottom and in mid-water will have the energy to move about a bit. Good luck. TC

The roly poly, as already described is pretty easy to master, and does catch fish, but not always.
Most successful retrieve (lures only) for me is one arm pulls, slow----slow----quick-quick-slow---- etc, etc, but not always, does depend on the mood of the fish on any given day.
