Question broken tip ?

I was reading the various misfortunes of people breaking the tip of there rods. If a rod tip is broke say 6/10 inches could you fix it by puting the top eye there or is the rod nacked regardles of how much is broke ? Alan

Could you not get a new top section for the rod.

I would suggest if its under warranty to get it replaced.As Mikgee says.Most rods these days carry it so there should be no problem,although there is a small charge for some and a large charge for some others depending on the rod maker.

you have nothing to lose by refixing the tip ring and trying a cast . I did this with an ultralight spinning rod and it was fine .

The shorter you make the section the more the change in characteristis! first of it will become stiffer, thus the casting action will change, secondly a break in carbon/graphit rods usually has a chan reaction aong the blank, you might not see it until you load the rod up and it goes again! I would get a new section if possible or scrap the rod.
