Default River Almond by Perth......

Just wondering if anyone has fished here, specifically the beats from the Almondbank bridge upwards towards Dalcrue and Millhawk? I am hoping to have a crack here in the next few weeks you see. I used to fish the ower Almond, around the pow hole which held good numbers of fish but I'm wanting something a bit more challenging. If anyone has fished here, can you offer advice on good pools or runs? Thanks a lot

I lived by the Almond for a couple of years and though I caught one or two good trout off it in spring hatches, it never seemed as good a trout stream as say the Braan, one valley over. Low stocks and not much holding water. But I fished up round Glenalmond College and it may well be better lower down.

It used to get a good run of salmon, but often too late to fish for them. If they did get up before the end of the season there was good fishing off the back of a spate. I once had three in a lunch break.

Not sure if you were asking about trout or salmon.

sorry, I should've been a bit more descriptive. Salmon or Trout really but the majority of my gear is for trout. I lived in Almondbank for 18 years and regularly fished down towards the tay, which was actually very good for catching rainbows that had escaped from the trout farm and became wild. I have never fished above the Almondbank bridge though. The water between Almondbank and Dalcrue looks quite nice but as is ever the case......it may just be nice looking water with no fish in it!
