Default Looking for a wee boat.... any suggestions?

Hi girls and gals...

Hope someone can give me some advise on buying a boat.... I want something light which i can carry/pull/drag though fields to try access small lakes here in the west of ireland.. These lakes have lots of pike and i want to get em on the fly... so thats the reason for a wee boat... I cant get my sheelin 19ft boat onto the water as access is generally difficult...

I am thinking of an aluminium boat, maybe 14 feet or so in length?

Anyone know of someone in Ireland that might sell something like this??
I dont really want to spend a whole lot.. maybe 600 euro or thereabouts?
Thanks
JJ O'Malley

Have you considered a Kayak?
There are special (adapted for fishing) sit on Kayaks, Rod rests etc..
May be easier to transport?

Typical Link

Hey Joe
I had thought about a Kayak but just dont think it is the best option as i often fish with a friend so it wouldnt really suit.. plus the few i have seen which are adapted for fishing are pretty expensive.....

Thanks for the input though...

My immediate thought was portabote but even second hand they are more expensive than you'd like. You should be able to pick up a canadian canoe second hand for that money. I paid £250 for a 17 footer and sold it for the same - It weighed too much at 45kg. However weight reduces drastically with shorter canoes.

the trailers good and there may be a seagul engine but not sure if I gave it away.

go to whsmiths and get yourself a second hand boat mag or two. they should have a few nice examples and you'll get a feel for the price your gonna have to spend.

when i was younger me and my dad restored an old rowing boat, 10 footer, cost bout 50 quid from a boat yard. night be an interesting project if you have the time
