Default First suburban trout of the 09 season

Popped out in time to catch the LDO hatch by the main road today.

First trout of the season

Were you on the Don Paul,if so i'd say somewhere around Middlewood.

Yeah - above Winn Gardens. We've got a Trout in the Town project going to look after the river from Hill Foot up to the Park above Winn Gardens (as well as the tributaries).

Let me know if you'd like to be involved. Plans include:
Free membership angling club
Cleanups/working parties
Classroom projects
Habitat restoration

That sounds good Paul,if you could pm some details I'll get in touch,I'm a newcomer to flyfishing and it would be nice to pick up some advice from local anglers.I've been a course angler for nearly 30 years and I always overlook the Don,I guess it's the memories of the river when I was a kid,one day it was green the next day yellow and I remember it smelling a bit.It's amazing how clean it is these days albeit due to demise of our steelmaking heritage.
