Default This months T&S

T&S arrived this morning, now that is early this month.
Super article about Ullswater, and a river lines test, with very interesting outcome. The cheapest Ron Thomson is right up there with the most expensive.
And one of the most expensive, gets the least points.
Testers had no idea of price etc until test was over.
Overall winner was Greys Platinum and Guideline 4 cast.
Sonik SK4 did very well also.

I am pretty sure a tester could tell a low/mid/high priced rod by the quality of the fittings and the finish....(but not the handle these days )

You think that those tests are very helpful?
they said they used the colour of the lines to help grade performance.
Not sure that really makes any difference!

Can vouch for the Greys. Bought one recently on Wee Jimmy's advice and am very impressed.

Did you like the Ullswater article Steven? I was on the day before that article was done with a friend of mine and I can vouch that the going was a bit tough with only short flurries of sport when an odd bit of ripple could be found. We drifted into one bay near Glencoyne late on and found the discarded shucks of dozens of hatched mayflies - we'd missed the boat (!) by a few minutes....

They are bonny trout though aren't they?

Superb Matt, I intend to float tube in the margins in May.
Hope Geoff gets a bit of guiding from the publicity, he knows the lake.
