Default New to all of this

HI first post.

I've been teken fly fishing a few times by a very competant mate to local fisheries and llandegfedd and am really enjoying it. I'm normally a boat fisherman more used to launching a lead uptide but this has really attracted my attention.

My casting us at an alright standard, last weekend i was managing to cast a di7 far enough that it could get down to the 20 foot depth and still be fishable with boobies and managed to get 8 fish out.

I'm now looking at getting my own gear, i've been lending my friends gresy xd platinum 10' 7# and as i've been getting on with it so well wanted to try and get one but nowhere seems to be selling them....just the competitor models with the rubberised handles which i'm not sure but from holding them can only assume that they might leave some blisters!!!

does anyone know if there are any tackle shops that are still selling the XD or if there are any second hand anywhere, or failing that what other rods are comparable so that i can get along and try them out...I must say that i'm really looking at a 10' foot 7# as i only 5 minutes from llandegfedd and really enjoy the drifting on a large water rather than a smaller commercial fishery.

any advice recieved would be appreciated

cheers

john

Thanks very much guys

have had a look at the foxons site and seen the xd's i'll be popping into Gary evans this evening as its only 1 1/2 miles away from my house.

May get up fishtec this weekend too - the guy who has been taking me originally comes from trecastle up near Brecon and knows the guys who work there so i'll see if i can drag him along too!!
my only query with the enigma emg is that it may need an experienced person to cast it and that it may not be as forgiving as the XD...all goes about trying them i suppose.

Default Enigma EMG

Hello John

My 10ft 7wt EMG's have a more traditional action if anything which I will stick my neck out and say you will possibly find easier to cast. You do not need to be Steve Rajeff or Hywel Morgan to cast one of these beauties. They just introduced a new version after many years selling same model.I do wonder how they could make this rod any better and noted the new 10ft 7wt is heavier so probably a different/faster action which is not for me.Good luck whatever you choose.

Best JP
