Default Hopes and dreams

With the new brown trout season almost here, what are you hopes for the forthcoming season?

I will be hoping to catch a nice river brownie of over 3lbs.
I have caught bigger before, but not for a while.

I will be focusing on the Clyde, a river I have neglected for trout for far to long.
Keen to have a few days fish the traditional methods on the river and see if the past masters like my style.

All the best to you all, Graham

I am just looking forward to my first fish on the fly, I care very little for the species or size.

I'd love to get a river trout of 2lbs, I had 5 last year of 1lb+, but none significantly bigger, I reckon a week in Slovenia in May might help me reach this goal. I'd also like to catch a few new species this year; marble trout, (wild) rainbows, bass, pollock & pike will all be sought. Mainly though, enjoy this season as much as last.

I have a lot on my fishing agenda for this year. Most importantly is to simply spend more time on my favourite burn's in your neck of the woods maharg. I also want to get a big burly perch on the fly at some point, only ever had smallish one's so far. I'd love to get a double figure pike on the fly this year, missed it narrowly last autumn 3 times. Also i'd love to try my hand at swff!

Hi', All. As a committed 'bug-hunter' I hope the good reports of early spring olive hatches are an indication of what the rest of the season is going to be like. If last year's improvement continues, then everyone should see better hatches of fly -- that way, we'll all have the chance of good sport, both newbies and oldies. That would really be worth putting in the diary. TC

If you want that big perch, and a real good chance of a double figure pike, get yourself up to the Ard about mid April and hold on tight
