Trout hunter is on a distinguished road
Default Rod Tye

It is with the deepest regret that I report the sad passing after a long illness of Angler, fly tier, angling writer and my good friend Rod Tye. He will be sorely missed amongst the angling community in Ireland and further afield.
It is my intention to start a tribute thread for Rod later this week, but for now I would like to gather my thoughts on what I would like to write.
Our immediate thoughts are with Rods family and friends, may the lord be with them at this difficult time.

My sincere condolences to his family.

I only had business dealings with Rod and spoke with him a few times at the British Fly Fair so did not know him very well but will certainly miss him.

Kind regards

Condolences to his family. A great angler and superb fly tyer & dyer of materials, whose articles in the likes of Trout & Salmon, brought inspiration to many many anglers.

Very very sad news Andrew. I can't say I knew Rod at all really, but met him and chatted briefly a couple of years ago. But as soon as it became apparent that I had fished out west a few times, he talked...and talked as if he knew me, and isnsisted I look him up for a days fishing next time I was out west. A man who lived and breathed fishing, and this manifested itself in his delicious materials, colours, dyings and tyings, and of course his writing. Sad to know I'll never thrill to another of Rod's articles and fly selections in T&S.
