Hi', Paul. Managed to get started with the monitoring at Kettleside Farm, on the River Petteril, after a long, enforced lay off from Oct, 2007, when I found one of your study group's once-captive shrimps, just below the M6 drainage culvert, to Sept, 2008, when I started checking Kitchenhill Bridge site, 3/4 mile downstream, where diluted upstream pollution permits shrimps to survive.
Checked Kettleside again, March 2nd, above culvert, 2 shrimps-- due to either the extension to Newton Reigny sewage system or an offending farmer getting his act together. The first native shrimps I have found at the farm in over three years. Hope the situation continues to improve. Heptagenids had improved to a count of 42, the best ever. That was bettered at Kitchenhill by a count of 43, plus 15 shrimps. What a difference that 3/4 mile makes!! All the best, Terry
