Default marking fly lines

Sorry to repeat this recently asked question but my search technique failed me.
What is the best way to mark my lines for fishing the hang? Carl has recommended whipping orange and yellow backing on a (dark) Di 7, but what was the consensus of opinion on lighter lines? And does everyone go with the 15ft? I'm ashamed to say I just used to guess when to hang my flies

Default Line Markers

Line Markers......Mine are all at 13ft....(my preference rather than 15ft)

Personally I whip a 1" band ofFluro orange thread on all my lines from intermediates to DI-8, then apply 2 or 3 coats of superglue.

I even measure the line with a tape to get ever line marker exactly right.

In my opinion it makes so much difference to your line control - You shouldn't be without them !

The alternative is to use Tip -Ex and simply paint on a line marker, although this will not last more than 4-5 trips - but it will scratch off with your thumb nail if you put it in the wrong place !

(DON'T use thinners as it will ruin your line)

I use the same method as Rob (does anyone know how to keep fluoro orange looking fluoro rather than muddy Brown!?) but set two markers - at 10 feet and 20 feet from the tip of the line.

I use 1 marker only , at 20ft , when it taps the tip ring you are at 20' when its in your hand you're at 11' ( on a 9' rod )
