I fish the river clyde At the lamington water can anyone advise on what to use on the opening day.? normaly I fish fly,but im unsure if it,s to early in the year ? can anyone give some advice ? novice 2nd year fisher

i'm only a novice aswell at flyfishing (2 years now) so i will be following this topic with interest.
i would probably be trying traditionals on the open day. kate mclaren, bibios etc

For early season on rivers a goldhead grhe sizes 12 - 14 fished into deeper water will generally do the trick.

I've never fished the Clyde but it will have some early season flies of it's own, so hopefully someone on the forum can comment on them for you.

If I was fishing any river without prior knowledge I'd use a grhe before anything else.
