Default Salmon Rod?

Hey up Lads
I bought a Hardy Elite 9ft 9wt Last Year as my first venture into
Fly Fishing for trout as it turns out it seems a little bit heavy for trout. Anyway I,v since purchased an Orvis Western 2 .which I ca,nt wait to try
out Am I right in thinking that I can use my 9ft 9wt for salmon? I may have
touched on this subject before on this forum but I keep geting conflicting
advce so I just want to clear it once and foreall,

Regards Steve...............

All Being Well Will be able to use it on the
river thurso in 2 weeks time

It would be fine for heavy reservoir work on windy days, single handed salmon and sea trout fishing and also for Pike and saltwater fly fishing.

I would hang onto it.

I liked the Elite 9 weight...in my opinion the last of the good Hardy rods.

I would certainly be looking at using it for Pike and Carp

Would also be good for sunk line work on the reservoirs for a big Brownie or two.

That will be fine for Salmon fishing on small rivers.
As has been said, it will also be very well suited to a range of other fishing applications.

On the whole, a very versatile rod indeed!

NO NO NO

It's an awful rod, not suited to much at all...........and as a very kind gesture, I will take it off your hands for a small fee

All jokes aside, on the whole rather versatile indeed from heavy sunk line work in reseviors to Salt Water and single handed Salmon fishing. Many Americans advocate the use of a single handed rod for salmon fishing.

Best of luck

Ben
