Default TF - Merlin Superfly

Just wanted to fill everyone in on the above. I saw the add in issue 389, page 33 of Trout Fisherman for the "Incredible Scientific Fishing Break-trough" and out of curiosity called the number, which was an answering machine, and left my details for them to send me the free information. After reading the leaflets that came claiming great catch result on what is basically a fly with a light emitter I watched the DVD that came with it. Oh my god

I am so shocked and angry. The guy in the DVD proceeds to catch fish after fish but the way he puts them back. He lands them in a net, put the net with the fish on the ground, picks up the fish with a towel, and then shows it to the camera while 'selling' the flies before putting the fish back. Unbelievable that someone will behave like that on a DVD in this day and age when C&R is at the forefront of discussions in our sport. I might also add that you do not actually see the fish swimming away safe and well so they probably just float belly up and die.

I really surprised at them being allowed to advertise in one of our 'leading' magazines. Perhaps a bit more investigation should be done by TF when a new advertiser comes along recession or no recession. It is people like these that give decent anglers a bad name.

Anyone out there in their right mind should not even call these people for the info let alone buy any of there so called flies.

Its always the same mag that carries all these new super dooper fish catching product adverts.Only last month there was one which said near enough the same that was 100% guaranteed to catch.I agree it should be giving a bit more consideration to the sport and not gimmicks which encourages the wrong ideas and ethics within it.
