Default fly hatches

Not really clued up enough on the hatches of river flies, and was looking for a little help.
Can anyone help me with the dates of the main hatches on the Clyde.
Grammon,
Stonefly,
Yellow may dun (May I would guess )
Olives,
etc.
Any help gratefully received.
Cheers, Graham

Grammon m- Early season on the lower river.
Stonefly - Early season, the fish take the nymphs but in all my time have never witnessed them take one off the surface but they must? They are about for a month.
Yellow may dun (May I would guess ) The end of May for about 6 weeks, the density varies from year to year
Olives - The most important fly on the Clyde, from the first to the last day of the season, bring every colour and size under the sun.

Not sure about the Clyde specifically, but Lancs/Cumbria area runs roughly as follows:

Large dark olive - hatches pick up around now, peaking in late March/early April.
Brook duns - March and early April.
Grannom - a week or so of mass emergence, usually second or third week of April I've found.
Stonefly - large ones in April, a few small yellow Sallys in May/June, willows/needles in October.
YMD - May! But trickles continuing all summer.
Olive Upright - April/May.
Medium Olive - April/May/June and beyond.
Pale Wateries/Small darks - May onwards until September.

There's loads more, but that should get you started.....Terry Cousin will be able to be more accurate with the dates I'd imagine.

Yellow May Dun tends to be a June or even July affair on the Earn. Just like the May flies

Good point Norm.
The further North you go the later the hatches.
Also its worth noting just because your book tells you x should be hatching in Aug does not necessarily mean it even exists in your river.
The only thing that is missing from your list for the Clyde is the Sedge, they appear in dribs and drabs throughout the year but dont make an impact on the fish until late summer.
And before our English friends jump down up and down the Hawthorne does not really feature that much up here, you get a few but you can blissfully fish the early part of the year without them.

The Hawthorne can be deadly on reservoirs around may ie Camps and Tinto in South Lanarkshire but as Buzz said I cant remember any sport on the Clyde or the Tweed on the Hawthorne.
