Default Drum Loch Dumfrieshire,

First day out this year, and were the fish dour, nothing showing, tried all kind of lines and Fleas,
Did catch one a full Finned rainbow 2.50 lbs a nice fish,
really enjoyed myself, buzzards flying above me,
And lots of geese flying over, will be back when it gets a wee bit warmer.

Does better when a bit warmer, good dry fly and buzzer water.

told me later in the year the Zulu size 12s and 14s does well.

Hard luck, CJoe, it's a pity we can't pick the weather to go with the fishery. Never mind, you weren't whitewashed. Just remembered, there used to be a pike or two in the loch, in fact, Andy let me fish a dead bait for them one day, down in the deep water near the outlet. Never had a pull or a run. That was a day when my old mate and I were persuaded to try Zonkers, when our normal flies weren't trying very hard; and we were getting a pull every third or fourth cast along the opposite bank to the hut. Not a lot of room for a long back cast; but the fish were really quite close in. We had some casting along the bank, and laying the line out in a mend over the water. Olive and black did well. It was a good job Ken had some in his box. Next time up, so had I!!
A nice fishery, with a gentleman in charge. Cheers, TerryC
