dawn raid
I love to fish at dawn, magic time of day.I quite often get to Pitsford in the near dark, and providing there's no mist on the water, usually have a fish or two. Fishing a shore where last night's sedges/buzzers are washed up can be really exciting, with the fish in inches of water- they don't half bolt when you hook up! By seven they've moved out and its breakfast time before I take a boat out.
I've sat on the bank at Grafham and heard monstrous splashes in the dark, I know they probably sound bigger but I can't help feeling some big brownies would come out if we could fish until midnight or so.

Behold the fisherman
He riseth up early and disturbeth the whole household.
MIGHTY ARE HIS PREPARATIONS!
He goeth forth full of hope and when the day is far spent he returneth
Smelling of strong drink, and the truth is not in him
