Smile Value For Money

Hi Yer
Looking To buy Some more Flys Tommorow, I was surprised at the
Difference in Prices. eg 50 WET FLYS £5 ,50 NYMPHS £6.99,20 SEA TROUT
FLYS£2.99. From a certain Tackle supplier, now even I,m not daft enough to
think they are going to be anygood considering that Iusally pay £1 upwards
each but having said that if your a total beginer like me would it be worth
while buying cheap bearing in mind you might be spending a lot of time
retrieving them from a tree.Does it make a difference as to weather you
catch or not at the end of the day. As an example, Ihave sea fished for
quiet a few years now and have caught good size cod on nothing more
than a peice of chrome tubeing as opposed to a lure that might cost me
£3 I do,nt want to try and compare the two sports they are completely
different apart from the end result (catching fish)

Steve...........

Look you might as well start with the best that you can afford, me personally i would rather have 10 well tied flies that are going to last for more than one fish per fly than 50 poorly tied flies!!!!

Hello Steve,

I started fly fishing last year and went and bought a couple of the bundles you mentioned and all I can say is steer well clear. You end up with five flies out of fifty that you will use and catch fish with, the rest you will never use. The best advice I could give you is get yourself a couple of half decent fly boxes and fill then with the flies that you will use again and again over the coming season. If you are looking for some decent flies then all I can say is have a look at morayflyfishers web-site, he is a member on this forum and has some of the best flies I have bought and provides a great service.

Well how are you meant to know what flies you will be using over the coming season? Sorry had a few wines tonight. When you go to the waters you will be fishing speak to the baliff and buy some flies at the water and speak to the guys that are fishing. Made some great friends in the last twelve months and I am sure you will find they are more than willing to help a new start. I caught most of my fish last year on flies that I was given by fellow fishermen. I never asked and was given the flies when I asked what they were catching on. I hope that I meet some new guys this year so I can pass on some of the info and help some other people catch with some of my flies.

Thanks to all for the response
I have already decided on most of the flies I
want to start off with this season and will obviously add as the season
and my experience gains. I will keep you posted on my progress and will
keep asking questions until I am in the posititon to answer questions and
therefore contribute to the forum. ( God That Sounds very formal)
Thanks Lads
