Default Rutland - Horse & Panniers Pub....

Do any of you local guys know whats happening with the Horse & Panniers pub in North Luffenham?
I've been trying to arrange a week on Rutland in June, and the pub phone says it doesn't take incoming calls, and the website re-directs you to another accomodation site.
Previous stays at the pub have been great.

laters.......

I hope there nothing wrong with it, my fishing buddy and I stayed in a lovely cottage just over the wall from the "Nag and Bag" last September, I was planning to do the same this year.

I can highly recommend this cottage: http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/rutland/52990

Here's the same cottage with a different link, this is the one I booked it through, they were very helpful and did a bit of a deal:
http://www.rutland-cottages.co.uk/ma...ge_rutland.htm

When I say it's over the wall, I mean that quite literally. Lovely cottage, near to the pub and the fishing, what more could you want.

Cheers

Andy

Default Horse and Panniers

Hi...I live at South Luffenham...1 mile away from the "Nag & Bag"

It's closed now and for the forseable future !

The owners are tring to get a "change of use" for the pub and want to turn it into 3 houses !

If you want cheap accomadation and a good drinking pub, with bar food then...book in at the Fox & Hounds (North Luffenham)

or the "Boot and Shoe" South Luffenham

Or if you want somewhere nice that does very good food (one of the best pubs in Rutland) with good accomadation the it's the Coach House South Luffenham.

But if you call then and want to stay for a couple of nights they'll all do a deal (except the Coach House)

If required I'll get you the Telephone numbers

Rob, do you know the name of the pub at the junction of the A47-A6121 I think the village is Barrowden ? We stayed in the travel lodge 150yrds west of it and used the pub for grub -beer it was very good.

Avoid the white horse inn in empingham beside rutland water, what a dump, bad food, lazy service and extortionate prices,we came over two years ago for the lexus team championships and will be giving that kip a wide berth in future, however the top house in oakham is a excellent spot fot a bit of food not sure if they provide accomodation though.

Default Coach House

I go to the Coach House in South Luffenham for a full weekend every April and I.M.O. it's great, not cheap but the food and hospitality is second to none. Ring Charlie.

Default Accomadation

Hi Jim...you mean the White Horse at Morcott.....in my opinion it's ok...not really a pub any of the locals use (or anyone else for that matter) but the food is average...and its quiet.

Regarding the Coach House....excellent quality accomadation and food ...but on the expensive side....but one of the best in Rutland !

Or there's the Swan Hotel at Harringworth (01572-747543) (7 miles...10 mins from Rutland lodge..if you drive slow) This is without doubt the best Value for Money food and accomadation in Rutland..excellent quality food & accomadation for less than the others I mentioned...but it is 10 mins from the lodge.

If you want i'll sort you all out a contact list of pubs in the area.

Default Top House

Top House Oakham.....Excellent value for money with regards food !...big portions and cheap...also good quality

Basically it's all pub grub....best of it's kind in the area !

But no accomadation
