Default 2009 Wild Trout Trust Auction

Just a heads-up to let you all know that this years WTT auction is going through the final stages of preparation. I know I would say this, but having looked at the first draft I think it is one of our best ever list of lots. 205 lots including fishing, shooting, books, etc, most of which are 'money can't buy' opportunities. Some of the lots really are once in a lifetime chances.

Despite the 'credit crunch' the fishing community has got right behind the WTT to support it's vital conservation work. There really is something for everyone with guide prices ranging from £15 - £11000.

Here at the Trust we do not take anything for granted and we are acutely aware of the impacts on your discretionary spending that the economic downturn has created.

In these days when, more than ever, we are seeking 'value for money' bidders should take comfort that not only are they getting a fantastic lot, but they are also doing their bit to secure a future for wild trout populations in the UK and Ireland.

The auction commences on 30th March and concludes on April 8th. Auction catalogues can be requested direct from the WTT office ( 02392 570985 office@wildtrout.org) or you can use the direct link from the WTT website www.wildtrout.org, which will take you directly to the charity pages of Ebay. This link will go live a few days before the start of the auction.

This is a major source of income for WTT. If you care about the future of wild trout please consider making a bid and encourage your fishing buddies to do likewise

Bid long, hard and generously!

Many thanks

Simon Johnson
Director - Wild Trout Trust

I look forward to it. I've bought 3 days in previous auctions and they were all excellent!

Thanks for the support.

Just to wet your appetites we have three very special destination fishing lots two in in Argentina and one in Iceland. There are also accompanied days fishing with the likes of Brian Clarke, Mike Weaver, Charles Rangeley-Wilson, Stuart Crofts, John Tyzack, Dennis Moss, the list goes on........ You can bid for days on many fine waters in the UK and Ireland for trout, salmon, sea trout, bass, pike, grayling and even roach!

Fishing tackle has been donated by Sage, Hardys and Bloke Rods. For lovers of split cane we have an stunning Edward Barder rod. Fishing authors have been supportive with signed editions by Brian Clarke, John Goddard, Charles Rangeley-Wilson, James Babb and John Gierach, including four very special editions.

Not wishing to be outdone the fly tyers have given us great support. Oliver Edwards has donated nine flies copying the life cycle of the Yellow May Dun as depicted in the March edition of Fly Fishing & Fly Tying. We also have flies donated by Paul Little, Paul Procter and a special collection donated by many of the contributers of Fly Tying & Fly Fishing.

For something a little different there is an exclusive and bespoke tour behind the scenes of the Natural History Museum or how about a ploughing lesson from the England Team coach!

There really is an opportunity for all fly fishers to take part, whatever their budget. Guide prices range from £15 - £11000.

The support of all the donors has been fantastic and we owe them all a huge debt of gratitude. All we need now is as many people as we can find to take part in the auction and help us raise much needed cash for our conservation work. Please do let all your contacts know about this vital fundraiser for WTT.

As ever members of this forum have been very generous donors...thanks guys!

Simon

. . . . and the proofing of the catalogue's almost finished - I reckon I know it off by heart now!

Six Monnow lots this year including a day with Frank, a day with Tigermoth & Cranefly and 2 consecutive days (!) with Mayfly & MrP - obviously some lots are more valuable than others!!!!!!

Thanks for all your support

P

Money probably shouldn't be allowed to buy the "Wander up the Wandle" with moi...

As Wicked Uncle Patrick suggests, some lots are definitely more valuable than others

I won one of the lowest starting price lots in auction last year and had one of my most memorable days wild trout fishing ever! It was on the urban Cole in Lancs. Price doesn't always drive the quality of the experience, sure it can help, but by no means is it an essential pre-requisite.
