Default Best knot for joining leader sections.

While watching the rugby im practicing some knots for the coming season. Be interesting to know whats the most popular knot amongst members for joining tippets of different strengths together.
Thanks.

figure of eight knot for me, not a clue what its proper name is though.....
easy when your cold and impatient (like me ) plus if you make the tag long enough you can use it as a dropper

I have just been practicing an easy figure of 8 knot a friend posted elsewhere and its brilliantly simple, he only uses it for attaching flys. I like the thought of one knot for everything. Must do a few tests.

I'm not sure how long you have been using this knot for droppers but I would recommend that you learn the Water knot, Grinner or Blood knot for joining your leader to make droppers. The fig of eight knot is designed for making loops

Jim, no need to worry, I know bloods grinners and waters. I didn't mean to mislead you, it isn't a loop knot.
you lay 2 seperate lengths of leader material along side each other and knot a figure of eight.
rather than doubling the end of the line to form a loop

I tried this fig of eight on 4lb maxima 3 times and it broke at the knot 3 times whilst pulling the main line and not the dropper. I'll stick with the 3 turn water knot,I was genuinly thinking that I had missed out on a good simple knot. But i'll keep it for my leader loops.
