Red face Advice on dropper position please.

As I'm new to the art of fly fishing I've restricted myself to one fly until now. Having gained some proficiency I now wish to add more flies to my leader but being a bit hesitant I would like to initially just add an extra one until I have mastered that before progressing on. Where would you position the droper for one fly on your leader? Would it be a few feet from the point or further away? I should add that I will be fishing a deep stillwater mainly on a floating line. Sorry if it 's a daft question.

there are no set rules as to where you put your dropper,So you have to think what you want to achieve
How long is your leader going to be..so for example you were fishing a 12' leader It would be OK to have your dropper fly anywhere between 3'-6' from the point fly . And with a 15' leader between 3'-9'. For me 6' is about as close as I want the top fly to be to the flyline,I hope that helps.

I've seen a similar method done.
But instead of tying the line on to the hook bend, they tied another length of line on to the (what was the point fly) eye of the hook.
Needless to say this would depend on the size of the hook (eye) used and the diameter of line used.

if your not one for tying droppers you may like to try the Seamless Rings like the ones listed here http://www.mullarkeys.co.uk/fishing/...ureflash/3740/

you can easily change your depth of dropper with these and i think they have good reviews from other members of the forum .
