Default Orvis store in Harrogate (N.Yorkshire)

Hi,

From the Harrogate Advertiser, Friday 30th Jan 2009.

"COUNTRY clothing, shooting and fishing specialists Orvis are to close their shop on Parliament Street to open a new flagship store at West Park in Harrogate.
The prominent new venue opposite West Park Stray has more than three times the selling area of the original site and is expected to stock one of the widest selections of dog products and high quality fly fishing tackle in the region."

The current store is a good size so the new one should be interesting. What credit crunch...?!?

Matt.

Orvis in the UK is doing well, always has done, however its parent in the US is struggling somewhat.

Incredibly, the UK operation is propping up the US side of things ay the moment, the UK being a much needed cash cow during these hard times.

Anyway, this credit crunch doesn't really or hasn't so far affected the type of market that Orvis UK targets.

Exactly

Those who consistently put their hands in their pocket for Orvis gear, whether clothing, fishing gear or other apparel will continue to do so, this blimp in our economy isn't affecting thems upper middle classes or landed gentry.

On the other hand, peasants such as I have felt the pinch, with the smash and grabs rises in food and fuel costs etc, which has unfortunately put paid to the next Ron Thompson Accelarator or such likes.
