Default C F Fly Boxes

I’ve just bought one of the small C F fly boxes with slit foam on one side and 6 compartments on the other side, the compartment side has a full plastic lid but as the compartments are quite shallow I was a bit worried whether any dry flies would blow out when the lid was raised in a wind, I’ve scrounging a piece of magnetic material from a friend and cut it up to fit inside each compartment and super glued in and hopefully it will work?

Good idea, Alan. I'm surprised C+F haven't thought of it.

Hi Alan, I buy a product from a chap on Ebay, called convertape.
It's a self adhesive magnetic strip, 12.5mm or 25mm wide.
It can be cut with scissors and is very useful, it can be bought in metre lengths and multiples of.
I stick a piece on the back of my flyboxes, and it comes in handy when changing flies at the waters edge.
Very cheap to buy and has dozens of uses.
Cheers S.

Hi' Ironblu, I have the same box, and I will modify mine when mrtrout supplies me with a bit of magnetic material. He's a good lad, our Steven. The boxes are OK, not had a problem yet, but wouldn't open up the plastic cover in a wind. CF should have seen the light before they marketed them, IMO. Cheers, All TC
PS. Have 2 Wheatley compartmented boxes, Steven has seen the one I 'modified' with a back wheel of my car. They, too, can suffer wind extraction. Will have think about sorting them one day.

My fault Steven, I won't stop talking, and yours, too, you won't stop listening.!! You have a poor taste in angling companions.!!!Terry.
Seriously, the mag bits will save the pennies when the wind blows.

Hi Mostyn, just type in magnetic products, and look for Convertape, he sells loads of different products.
I haven't bought for a while, as I got a load last time.
I think Bordertroot has ordered some today two posts above.
Give him a PM if you can't find it or come back to me and I will try and put up a link for you.
Cheers Steven.
