Default Mells River - Jon Beer article in T&S?

Hi all -

In the course of researching Somerset fishing for my father-in-law, I've been reminded (because I'd known about it vaguely before, but never done anything to follow up) about the Mells River, run by Frome AA (which I've just joined in a spirit of reconnaissance).

Now, googling around t'internet, I've found this little snippet by Jon Beer on our very own Fish & Fly in 2003:

http://www.fishandfly.co.uk/jbedit0703.html

... as well as this forum reference to another article in T&S, I'd guess not too much before 2006:

http://www.fishing-forum.info/fly-fi...out-water.html

Does anyone know which issue this might have been (PM is fine if discretion is the better part of wild trout C&R etc...)

Many thanks!!

Theo

Sorry can't help with the article, but the Frome at Mells (sic) is my local river (well stream) and my brother fishes it all the time, I also have regular contact with Chris Haines (who sells the season tickets) so if you want to ask any questions then fire away. I will check with brother to see if he kept the piece.

Carl

Sorry always I've always called it the Frome at Mells (must be a Somerset thing)

Thanks Carl - I got my season ticket (well, what remains of the season) at Haines over the weekend. I picked their brains as well as I could, but beyond "Yes, there's trout right through there!" they seemed not to fish it themselves very much.

I'd be intrigued to know what JB said: fear not, I won't be there very often, but will certainly enjoy the surroundings, take only photos and leave only wader prints when I do!

May PM you when I can work out some intelligent questions...

Theo

Not surprised at Chris's response, he is a matchman through and through. (I am surprised he was at the shop on Saturday as he's in fishing the Whiteacres festival this week).

Will try to answer your questions when you post them.

As for the JB comment - I've no idea either.
