Default Braided Loop

What's the best way to attach a braided loop to fly line? What do you do with the other end that gets frayed?

Push the tip of the line up inside the loop as far as it will go. Trim the frayed ends then either whip over it with tying silk or slip the silicon braid sleeve over it. Dab of superglue first though.

Cue John Gray with his mono loop technique and convenient link to his website.

Tightlines!

My my, PP .... aren't we sensitive! An unnecessary comment, if I may say so.

For those who find themselves somewhat mystified by PP's comment above, some kind of answer may be found in the following thread:

Can i grab the opportunity of finding two acknowledged loop experts in the same place?

i use an albright knot or a nail knot for tapered leaders, been meaning to ask someone for years, is this the norm/good/bad when you cant live with loops?

Perhaps it is a secret language, but I see you are closing in fast and have spotted it with your “cant” reference, good work Watson.

Use the same myself; tried braided loops and couldn't get on with them. I suppose they're OK with heavy flylines and lures, but they don't half make the end of the line go down with a splash, and they do nothing for transferring the energy of the cast through the leader to the fly.

My experience exactly, i was getting pretty good with shrink tube, fusing a loop on the end of the fly line, had it looking as professional as a factory loop in seconds, with practice it is easier than tying a knot and they can be made absolutely tiny with a bit of fiddling......the catch is, cannot get a small enough loop on the but end of a taperd leader to make it worthwhile.
