hello to you all

am a new member to the forum, and moved from whitby to derbyshire at he start of the year, hence i've picked up fly fishing as it is costly in fuel to keep sea fishing. i was living in ashbourne earlier this year and have pulled wild brownies out up to two pounds from the henmore brook (i did have the advantage of seing where they lay from my flat window though!) , have recently moved to etwall and would like to keep fishing, preferably on a river than a lake, i know i'm not far from the dove, any info on clubs or day tickets would be much appreciated
i have tried carp fishing but i don't find it as rewarding as catching wild fish,
i think this is a great forum, plenty of info and i look forward to contributing fully in the future

cheers

martin

Welcome CD, you are in a good spot, geographically, to learn about fly fishing: and in an excellent area, in this forum, to take advantage of the lads who fish your local rivers. Ask away, you will never fail to find great advice. All the best, TerryC

Hi CD, welcome to the forum, you have moved from one lovely part of the country to another beautiful part of the country.
Both have their merits.
Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the forum CD, I'm a relative newbie myself and I guarantee any question/query you come up with will be dealt with here!! It's a great resource and online community.

Welcome Cod Dodger
Good to welcome you to the fold.
Leek and District Fly Fishing Association have waters on the Dove, Churnet, Hamps & Bentley Brook. Our website is www.ladffa.com for more info. Even better is the strand on this forum to Leek and District Rivers- great bunch of guys and good fishing too.
Although you are more interested in rivers, don't neglect Formark Reservoir, run by the excellent Phil Dixon as long as Severn-Trent, in their wisdom, renew his lease- stunning fishing and right on your doorstep.
If you want more info, pm me
