You could try The Fairy Lochs, not too a bad a walk and some nice fish to be had as well.
Get a day ticket from the Hotel Shieldaig by the layby you park in to walk to them, which is on the way to Badachro. Can get some good grub at the pub as well.

I was there last May and the midges were no problem then. But I know they can be bad on warm days.

Whilst up there take a look at the wreckage and memorial of the crashed American plane, a loch is named after it. ( Aeroplane Loch )

There is also a nice little loch on the left on your way to the pub, had a few from out of there.

Also go into the harbour at Gairloch and the Gallery there for day tickets else where, just ask there are loads of places to wet a line.

As already mentioned, leave the lures in the box.

Hope this helps a little.
Dave

Here's a link to a pdf file from a local Gairloch gent.

and some lochs with contacts

My mate and I fished the Fairy lochs a while back and the guy in the hotel let us on for nothing. The Aeroplane Loch is a truly tragic place.

If you fancy a long hike, Loch na-H-Oichde is a stunning place and the Gorm lochs round the back are pretty good.

Mind the midge repellent.

Cheers

The Midges are ''so bad'' I'd recommend Sutherland.

Invest in a copy of the Trout Lochs of Scotland by Bruce Sandison. A good OS map, compass and be prepared to hike. Some of the tiny blue dots on the map have fish in, others don't. If you find one with fish you'll have a magical time. Some of the larger lochs have names, some smaller ones don't. The fun is finding them and that the more difficult to reach lochs maybe haven't seen an angler in years and are often the best. The fish are magnificent, truly wild and if you have one for the pot they're a real treat.
You'll not need masses of gear, rod, reel with a floater, fly box and nylon. Don't bog yourself down with loads of gear. Travel as light as possible.
