Velez smock from Paramo.

It's not designed as a fishing jacket but I'd recommend it for breathability and waterproofness.

Nothing fancy about the design, just a OS map sized chest pocket but I'll have all my gear in a waistcoat anyway. I only got it in November so haven't had it fishing here in Shetland yet but it's been out in the hills in a right mix of weathers and I can't fault it.

The Orvis one I bought off here for £70, Tailwater, I will not recommend.

It has some great features. The velcro, neoprene cuff is a great preventer of drips sliding down your arm. It is absolutely waterproof.

However it is very noisy (and smelly) and it has a poorly designed hood which does not have those stiffners. This means the hood sags to give you a pool on the top of your head. This bellows the side of the hood which lets in rain.

On a bad day no good.

Simms - Can't go wrong.

My old Patagonia jacket leaked then disintegrated in a cold wash. Difficult to recommend.

The Simms Guide jacket that Wildtrout is selling is fantastic, and i would bite his arm off for it at that price. Though i think Carrds might have jumped in there.

I've also had Redington, Patagonia and Greys jackets which were lacking in the waterproofing department though to be fair the Patagonia never leaked but had awful cuffs. Now the Loop Opti is a jacket i wanted to buy but on trying it on found that the sleeves were too tight around my elbow/lower arm. A mate has a Hardy (ews ?) which he rates highly after a couple of Musto's.

Scierra jackets also look pretty smart and seem to be highly regarded. They also might be worth considering.
