Thanks, thats my plan for when the coarse season closes.

What sort of weight rod would you need for carp? Sorry if this constitutes a hijacking of thread!

Coarse closed season only on rivers these days! As for weight of rod it depends what size of carp you're targetting, but if you can land a double figure rainbow on your gear you can land a double figure carp - 7wt outfit for example. Its not like you need a really heavy rod to turn a big fly over, just suitably beefy for the size of fish. Mind you, if you look through the fly fishing for other species pages you should find Skateboard Dave's exploits of many carp on fly gear, including a big double on a 1 weight outfit

Its a soft mat used when unhooking fish to stop them getting hurt/damaged

The're only carp . Yes , soft (very soft) and thick (nice and thick) and wide (huge really) with zips (so they can be safely tucked away) and handles (so they can be carried back to the water in it).
