Default Knot for tapered leader loop

I've just received some tapered leaders for the first time, but having a bit of difficulty putting a loop in the butt end. Two of my leaders have factory loops but the others are straight.

I have tried the perfection loop and four twist loop and having no joy. It seems once i have the loop formed and once i have tightened it all the way, it still slips! It's as though the line is just too thick for these knots.

What knots do you guys use to tie loops in the butt end of your leaders?

Hi Scotty9

Barbusbruce has offered good advice.

But if the knot has been tied correctly (?) and it still slips. You could always add a small blob of fisherman's glue/super glue to the knot to hold it. It won't have to look particularly pretty as the loop will be at the fly line end.

Thanks very much for the replies guys. I used the surgeon's loop and it has worked perfectly without any glue and no slipping. Seems to me, that is the best knot for thicker lines.

Much appreciated!
