Default drag issues

hey all, i have one of these

Click the image to open in full size.

in a 2/3 weight (not bought from mick), it is a beautiful little reel, silky smooth with a great drag BUTthe drag adjustment is far too light, it seems the lightest of strokes is all it takes to move it which results in over runs of the most hideous kind (action i thought i had seen the back of when i sold my beachcasting multipliers)...

i want to get into it to tighten up the mechanism, be it by bending/stretching springs or just filling the housing with theick grease to make it less susceptable to the moving.. I had a quick fiddle yesterday, the screw in the centre of the adjustment **** doesnt release anything.. i am lost, anyone know how i get into it... if i can get in am i in danger of a squillion components pinging everywhere... it didnt come with an exploded diagram like most reels

help me

What is the problem?

1. Not enough drag when the fish tries to steal the line?
OR
2. You want some friction on the retrieve?

Usually the big **** on the side opposite the handle deals with "1".

Where is the one-way bearing?

sorry.. you misunderstand me...

I can set the drag to what i want just fine, the problem i have is that the adjustment **** is so light that it is easily moved , it doesnt take alot of pressure to adjust the drag, all i want to do is make the click to adjust the drag a more positive one so that when i set it it stays... hope that makes sense !

Probably stating the obvious, but have you tried tightening the screw on the back?

I would give Mick a call, he'll probably either fix, or replace it for you.

Proceed with caution - sometimes the big screw on the back is L.H. threaded, if there is a "clicky" then sometimes there are loose springs and pawls.

Dismantling it in a mixing bowl with a tea towel over the top usually keeps all the bits in the same place, but not in the same order.

On my new 5 weight reel, it requires a lot of force to start the reel turning, even if the drag is on the lightest setting, is there any way to change this ?

You'll need to realign the drag to start earlier, this can be easy or hard(normally hard) what kind of reel is it.?
