Default Cleaning flys(tissue issues)

In South Africa on hols at the moment and was lucky enough to get a day on a brilliant cape stream with a local guy. Fishing was brillant but i will leave that for a thread when i get home and can include pics.
I was wet wading and fly box was submerged in a pocket most of the time, there was also a tissue in the same pocket which has nicely merged with my flys. Basically when i dried out the box of flys i have found them to all be coated in white tissue mess.
Any ideas on how to remove this mess other than hours of picking away with a pointy thingy?

Does it come off when you wet the fly? If so why not try wetting them and floating the mess off , or just leave it till the fly is to be used and give it a dip in the river after you tie it on.

It probably would, but i just hate to see the first team in such a mess Also it would make choosing flys a chore.
