I have had the pleasure of dealing with GUS before and he is a top chap, ties a mean fly and deals with everything on good faith.

Sorry to hear this GUS - I hope everything gets sorted out quickly.

A cheque is valid for six months, and if its undated, it means you could write a date in it yourself and then just bank it. Chances are that if he isn't answering your emails and calls, then the cheque won't go through anyway, but if the only reason is that it is undated, then write a date in it and put it in the bank.
Just a quick tip.
If the bank its drawn on is not far away from where you live, then travel to that bank, and pay it in to your own account from there - if its for a reasonable sum of money, pay for it to go on 'Special Clearance'. This means that, at the bank counter, his bank have to either reject the cheque or accept it for payment to your account. If it isn't going to go through, they will give you your 'Special Clearance' fee back and not accept the paying in slip, - saves you the cost of an unpaid cheque going through your own bank !
Good Luck

i,m pretty sure it is a criminal offence to issue a
cheque knowing it will be dishonoured ,the ultimate
recource--- the criminal law , but sadly due to our
lax courts people take advantage of this .
good luck

to write a cheque knowing it will bounce is a criminal offence . however my local fishery accepts cheques and when i deposited the cheque into honesty box i did forget to put the date on . however lucky for me it did clear .it was a genuine mistake

Sorry to hear about this Gus.

Prof1974 has had a few lines off me and all transactions went very smoothly, so hopefully there is a good explanation for this particular issue and hope that it gets sorted amicably.

Why not send him a polite note with a stamped addressed envelope? Might do the trick.

As he hasn't been on a while, there might be something genuinely wrong, God forbid.

Good luck with it mate.

The Pirate.
