Default blob5 nymph,s 0 lure1

Went to Bake fishery near saltash yesterday
n/east wind and ice about 6 to 8' out in the margins
not good conditions but we were going to give it a try, so i set up my gear.
10' rod with buehala floating line 14' flurocarbon leader
point fly} dawsons olive
middle droper} GRHE
top dropper} blob

well I was just casting out and leaving the lot drift around on the wind
had two fish on the blob and not a touch on the nymphs
at this point i swapped to a slime line and switched the dawson for a minkie but kept to the slow retrieve
3 fish in 6 casts all but 1 on the blob the minkie took that.
There was a stocking at 1 corner of the lake where most of the anglers went and most got a fish there but my set up took the fish where nobody else could catch.
I wonder what the next big invention in fly tying will be because i think that such a horrible monster like the blob will take some beating.

Default Hares Ear 5 Blob 0

Had to reply to your post.

Visited Chigboro today.

First 2 fish in 30mins both on Hares Ears and weighed a gnats testicle under 10lbs combined. Down to teh backing fights on both.

Final 3 fish came that later that afternoon on the second lake, all to Hares ears.

An elderly fellow I was 'showing the ropes' to bagged his first trout ever on a bloodworm.

A great day all round!
