Default Rods - Platinum X / Beulah or other??

Hi All

Was very lucky to get a small bonus this year and have been considering upgrading my old Greyflex MK1 6/7 to either a Platinum X or a Beulah or even the Greyflex MKII

So, has anyone got any of the above or does anyone have thoughts of the above choice?

I find my current Greyflex a little slow compared to my faster Beulah #6 which I love casting and have been wondering if I should go for a faster rod hence the thoughts re the Platinum X vs Beulah but also wonder if the Greyflex MKII is a faster action than the MKI.

Thoughts and offers appreciated if you wish to shift a nice #7 rod.

many thanks

SKB

Bob, see if you can find a Redinton CPS on offer - they have been selling them off for around £100 since the CPX was released recently. Used to be £250.

Fabulous fast and light rod. I have two 7 weights.

Thanks Charlie - I have the RS2 in a #5 and it is a nice little stick to play with on small waters.

Will have a look see; thank you for the advice!

There's one on eBay for £125 but I think you might do even better if you wait a month or so

Default handle

charlie

they look to have a half wells handle?

I do prefer a full wells but do yours sport the half or full wells?

I did just see one for £125 but I might wait a bit. I noticed the Greyflex MKII's are £99 in the magazines but dont know if these are a similar action tothe MKI's......

Thank you again.

The 9ft 7 weight has full wells, which I also prefer. I think #6 and lower have half wells.

hi skb, i have had a platinum x for a number of years now, i bought it as a back up rod, but have hardly used anything else apart from it, absolutely brilliant rod, some bargains can be had if you keep your eyes open. good luck and a guid new year.

Have had the XD on loan for the last few months whilst my Missionary is waiting for a new section and now they are £130 instead of nearly £300, I'm getting one. The Missionary can go back to being a travel/back-up.
