Default River Awbeg - help with info

About thirteen years ago I fished the River Awbeg at Castletownroche. It was an amazing limestone trout stream.

We bought tickets from a shop in Castletownroche and I thought there was a Castletownroche Angling Club. But I can't find a scrap of useful info online for what the access is now.

Anyone know?

Accidental
I was asking you about this river last year, did a bit of hunting around myself and couldn't sort out a day ticket. I spoke to the secretary of the local club who thought they sold tickets in the local post office but the post office didn't know anything. I'll get the details of the club when I get home and pm you. Another river near by, the Funshion, is a lovely stream - I joined a club there last year, drop me a line if you want info on that.

Chaps
I am heading over to this area of Cork in May and wondered if anyone ever found out somewhere to buy permits for the Awbeg or Funshion.
Thanks in advance

I have Peter O'Reilley's book of Irish Rivers somewhere, so will look it up for you. Ian Powell at the Blackwater Lodge Hotel should be able to help. Or you could ring a guy called John Murphy who runs a tackle shop in Cappoquin called 'Tight Lines'. Google for his details.

Many thanks Paul - I wasn't expecting such a quick response. I've ordered the latest edition of Peter O'Reilley's book from Amazon but I don't think it's published until 30 Apr. Will google John Murphy!

Tight lines!
