I was on the Itchen christmas eve and was approached by four people two from each side. Turned out to be the EA first time I have been asked to produce my licence for 20+ years.Two of them were even wearing body armour I was amazed that they need to but was told that they had to wear it as some people do pick fights when approached by them.

Nice to know they do actually show their faces once in a while.

Over a mere fifteen years of fly fishing I have never seen them either.

As for them being attacked. I think a mandatory minimum five year stretch for assaulting an EA officer would soon stop that.

think i've only been checked twice in nearly 30 years , both times in the lakes, brotherswater and ulswater .
never been checked on club waters , only been checked by a club bailiff three times.
i remember when i was a bailiff a few years back and i checked a few tickets , some of the anglers commented back "thats the 1st time in 40 years"
