just foned there they gave me another adress of where to send it but also told me tpo enclose a cheque for 20 pounds and said there mite be a cost to fix the rod is this a new thing i sent a orvis rod back to be fixed a few years ago and only paid the postage costs?.

Sounds fairly common for most guarantees tbh. Check the Orvis Website. Their customer service is second to none so don't worry.

Some Orvis rods are not covered by the 25 year warranty.

I've never had to claim, touch wood, but from what I've heard you don't pay anything for the replacement or repair on those that are.

Snapped my western 2 recently. Took it into the Orvis shop in Stamford, they sent it away, it came back within 5 days with a new section. Great service, didnt cost anything.
