Default Never though I'd See the Day.

Twice in the last month I've had ridiculous phases of fishing.

Saturday I snuck out thinking to steal three hours. - I got less than an hour.

Tackled Up - tied on a fly -
first cast Bump
Second cast - Fish
Third cast - nowt.
Fourth - Fish.

Switch to smaller fly of very different colour Move to different part of lake
cast - Fish.

Three unproductive casts.

Switch to a nother very different fly, move to part of lake where nobody seems to be catching.

Cast - Fish.

Bagged out - have a brief chat and head for home, with a vague feeling of disappointment.

Not sure I follow ... why the disappointment? You were fishing to catch fish I assume?

EDIT: Ah I see. You reached the catch limit. I can see how that would be irritating.

Thats the problem with day tickets, you can catch a 2, 3 or 4 fish limit within a few minutes. Its a right con.

I rarely fish anywhere which doesn't allow C&R after limit, for exactly that reason. I remember fishing Lechlade once as a guest on a corporate day thing (not a freebie unfortunately, just a couple of quid off full price). Two and a half hour drive and had 4 big lumps of lard within a couple of hours, and that was that for the day (since I wasn't going to pay another £50!). I messed about on the brook around on the lake, even though I only had a 10' 7wt outfit with me and I managed to tempt a small brownie, then I just spent the rest of the day chatting to others, drinking tea and waiting til my mate had his limit so we could drive back. Not my type of venue, not my idea of a day's fishing The fish didn't even make particularly good eating.

See what you mean Downstream. Glad to say I don't have the problem; my local stillwater doesn't have a bag limit (you pay for what you catch) and, more importantly, I rarely catch anything near my 2 brace bag limit on the river!

Time to take up river fishing methinks. Or, for the extreme, go sea trout fishing or Spring Salmon fishing
