Default River Clyde levels

Have been driving up the Clyde valley the last 4 days to go to work and have noticed fluctuating levels. Thought it might have been snow melt or rain further upstream? The problem is that it seems to drop back just as quickly???
I know there is a power station at Kirkfield bank, but where is the head of water being held in the manner of a dammed Hydro system?

Think I must be missing something!
Any ideas?

Cheers, Graham
