Default Wind/Shower Proof Fleeces

As the weather is now getting colder, it's time for me to buy a fleece. does anyone have any suggestions for ones that are wind and shower proof?

TIA.

Not a fleece, but I have a Scierra Soft Shell jacket and like it a lot. It keeps the wind out, allows layers underneath, and is fairly showerproof.

I've yet to wash it with a NikWax product yet, but I'm sure when I get round to it the jackets qualities will improve more.

I would not spend a fortune on a fleece ,have had a under20 quid job from Uni glo for 3 odd years now ,does for drizzle and as a wind block ,bucks to spend on winter clothing go for Under armour ,from good rugby shops !

I have a Hardy Softshell EWS and its really very very good , mobility is excellent , it is surprisingly warm and not at all bulky with a shell over the top of it. I was out fishing in the snow on Saturday morning......no problem at all (a thermal vest , microfleece top , EWS and a guideline shell jacket) - OK my finger tips were numb !

Snowbee Breezebloc......
Warm, windproof and water resistant (would start to leak in heavy rain for hours I suspect but mine has kept me dry in some quite heavy downpours)

I wear a fleece bodywarmer underneath on cold days and a light waterproof over the top on very wet days.

Buy one...you will not regret it.....

Everyone,

Thanks for the advice. I've decided to go for a Guideline Softshell jacket with a Hardy EWS microfleece.

Thanks again.

Richard

Richard,

A thought. A softshell over a fleece won't give you waterproofing. Arguably all you've got is 2 fleeces. You'd be better with a shell over a softshell or a shell over a fleece IMHO. Happy shopping anyway!

Another classic example of brand dependancy.
