Yeah lad really feeling the boredom. I'm like you, I've tied that many patterns so far that I need a new box.

I'm planning on doin a lot of competition fishing here in Ireland next year and so am takin the opportunity to practice on rainbows all winter.

Would prefer the river. Roll on March!!!

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

I've never been one to pine away for fishing during the closed season. I suppose that's mostly to do with the fact that the closed season here is enforced as much by nature as it is by law. Unlike the UK, you can't simply carry on fly fishing when the lakes and rivers are covered with ice.

So I get on with other things. So far in the closed season, I've:

- Shot a nice-enough 7 point whitetail buck (stag). Not bad considering I had to cut my usual week down to just three days.
- Had two decent days of pheasant and hoping for a couple more.
- Completed fitting out the trailer for my new drift boat.

This winter I'm going to:
- Finish the seats and for in the drift boat so it's all ready to go for next season.
- Build some cabinets for my shop and an outfeed table for my table saw.
- Read about 6 or 7 books that I've been too busy to get at.
- Smoke a couple of small turkeys and make some pulled pork.
- Bottle the Cabernet that I made back in 2004. It's been sitting in the "cask" long enough, it's time to start enjoying it.
- Prune my grape vines, repair trellises, and get ready for next season.

In other words, it'll be fishing season before I get to item 4 on the list above. Time flies.

Big time, and I've only two seasons under my belt, ridiculous! Wasting a whole lot of time at work planning trips for next year.

Here's a thought, Collin. Try some deer hunting.

I know, I know, I'm waaaaaay out in the weeds with that one. But c'mon, I just have this feeling like you might dig it. I don't know how, I can just sense these things, it's like a gift or something.
