Default North Esk Scotland

Hi everyone, my son and I are going to fish the North Esk Scotland for the first time, hoping to catch our first Salmon preferably on fly. The beat we're fishing is the Pert water. What I was wondering is, has anyone fished this water and if so can you tell me if its a good beat (I think its about 2 miles long) and if you think it will be ok to fish around May 12-14. Also have you any advice on tactics, gear, flies to use, spinners to use etc.

Default North Esk

We fished Pert for the first time in August and we had 21 fish for our 6 man party (4 novice Salmon anglers ),all fish were bars of silver with sea lice on them. we lost a day and a half through high dirty water.....if you get some water i`m sure you will get fish. Best flies for us were silver ally shrimps and flamethrowers size 8, on DI3 10ft tip

Black 10g flying C also did very well

Boat pool and the Luther pool seem to hold most fish but there is plenty of good fly water.

First day we were there we stopped counting at 100 fish showing through the Luther Pool in 15 mins...............I think this year was a particullary good year on the N Esk
