Default Irish Ordnance Survey maps online

New (I think) service from the OS. OS maps of the country and decent ariel photos once you zoom in. Just looking at a few fishing spots and the quality is a lot better than google earth in some areas. Only problem is rivers are coloured blue so you can't see the actual water.

Sweet, might stitch together some shots of the blackwater to create a river map

Just saw how to remove "colouring in" effect. Click Ortho button on bottom right hand side of screen

It seems a mix of google maps and OS very own maps. Might fool around with it and photoshop when I get the chance

Great link. Thanks for that.

I've zoomed in to the house on the shores of Lough Ennel where I bought my liver and white springer (in the avatar). I've showed her the house but she doesn't remember

Flyonly
if you click the "Ortho 2005" button on the right hand side of the screen the photo will be as taken, i.e. no blue or white colouring.

I did that Steve thanks, but it gave a worse resolution at that scale. I'll have a good play with it later. I noticed that some areas of the map don't have all of the image sections yet when you zoom in, so I hope it's work-in-progress

Think most county councils have this, here's one of my favourite lakes in Donegal.

And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
