Default "Easy" water?

I've just bought my Son in Law his first fly rod for his birthday and he is very keen to go now rather than wait for warmer weather - which is no bad thing - but I am concerned that my local waters (Grafham and Pitsford - both within easy reach of home) might be a bit offputting at this time of year for a beginner?

I have heard that Manor Farm between Sandy and Biggleswade (off the A1 south) can be kind - but can anyone recommend a water near Bedford / Northampton / Kettering / Huntingdon that I could take him to and (hopefully) get him his first trout?

Also, does anyone on here fish Manor Farm? Any recommendations for that water gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Just put up a post on Manor Farm - not "easy" today, unfortunately :

Normally it is comparatively easy, and you do not need to cast far.

Elinor is a terrific water but needs more casting skill - you could take a rowing boat there if it is not too windy and I am pretty sure you would catch. It is very well stocked and the owner and staff are extremely helpful, so will tell you where and what toi use.

Rib Valley has been good recently but a bit further for you to travel.

Possibly a bit too far away but try Donnington trout fishery. It's near Stow on the Wold.
A very small water quite well stocked with 1lb-ish fish that will take just about any fly stripped back quickly enough.
Great place to take a beginner.
