Default Get Your Teeth Into It

Do any of you guys / girls have problems with using your teeth to bite thru leader material.

Ive been doing this for 30 + years and finally my teeth are starting to break. My dentist obviously told me to stop doing it and I did for a while by using scissors and other cutting tools, but eventually I reverted back to my teeth.

I guess it is just a hard habit to break like smoking, or something.

Anyone else as weird as me

I do the same mate, ive ran a ridge thru one of my teeth caused by doing the same as you!

I dont boat fish with a waistcoat on, so I dont any cutters to hand when I change flies, or setup my leader, this could be the reason towards it LOL

So thats what happened your teeth in your pic
Doubt you have the monopoly on weirdness here but personally always found using teeth caused problems getting the nylon through the eye of the next fly so scissors every time for me.

I broke one of my front teeth years ago biting nylon. Had to get it rebuilt. Very costly. That will soon make you stop. Less than a tenner for good snips, which I use all the time now.

used my teeth for years, but quite often swallow loose end of nylon, sticks in throat, hellish being sick to try and dislodge it, keep telling myself use cutters, but so far have not listened to my own good advice, so, newcomers use cutters, and save the embarrassment of being sick in company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup me too!
years of biting through nylon line, (probably up to 15 lb - takes a few goes) but after a bit of toothache & a visit to the Dentist about 3 years ago I hardly ever fail to use the nippers now.

Youngsters and newbies..don't do it

I am another one who has been told off in the past by the dentist. Still do it though I just can't quite manage 3X Riverge or any thicker fluorocarbon. It seems to be much tougher.
