They dont carry them in the UK.
I only know of people (myself included) who have had to get them from the US of A.
Nice line btw.

Buying from the USA and importing could be prohibitively expensive.

Can I suggest asking your local Rio stockist to special order the line you want - the importer "guideflyfishing" was happy for me to place an order like this earlier in the year.

I've bought direct from Gorge who send post free and *normally* escapes duty. Works out around £40 - I don't think you can get a premium line for anywhere near that in the UK

Robjents of Stockbridge do them. They don't have a shopping website per se (www.robjents.co.uk) but give them a call and they'll post stuff to you. Not the cheapest but good service.

You're right: I should have said you won't save a lot by importing...

I hadn't realised there were US shops who did free shipping to UK; I will make sure to look at Gorge. But if your £40 line was stopped by HMRC you could pay more than the £49.99 UK list price (my local shop will usually do me 10% discount).

The dropping GBP/USD rate stuffed this but I got more than 3 RIO lines from Gorge at £30 (2:1 rate). On each, there was a notice from HMRC saying around £7/8 was required to be paid or the item would not be delivered, however on each occasion our postie simply handed it over and left!

At a current rate of 1.6 and overall duty at 24% (assuming worst and you got stung) you would pay £47, but as you say, at these prices and the week long+ wait, it's not really worth the aggro if you can get it here for £50, and even better at a discount.

What would really belt it, tho', is the £8 RM charge to collect the money.

I had that on a Joan Wulff line. forget the exact figures but VAT was about three quid and the RM charge bought it up to about £12!!!

The line, at the time, was still cheap and I've never found a supplier in the UK

Update, I ve found a tackleshop in Annan who say they can deliver the line by saturday! Fingers crosssed.

Ok update to the update! Shop in Annan has let me down, so went to the Glasgow angling centre today and they have ordered me one in, should be here in less than a week
