bigjoe is on a distinguished road
Default New fly angler.

Hello all,
Ive been a lurker here for a while so i thought i would introduce myself, Ive been a coarse/sea angler since i was 10 and i grew up in the south east so i had plenty of beaches and lakes at my disposal,i moved to the scottish borders about 4 years ago and havent fished since, but always watched the fly fisherman on the river and always wanted to try it, and i live 2 mins walk from the upper tweed at Innerleithen which might help.

Is there any good books worth looking at regarding starting out? from reading on here and other info am i right in guessing a 6/7wt 9'6" rod would be reasonable starting set up,until i work out what the hell im doing!

Kind regards and apologies for the waffle

Hi Joe and welcome, I don't know what rivers you are contemplating but a 9ft rod and a #5 line should cover most situations.
Good luck with it all.
Steven.
Sorry missed the bit about the upper Tweed until I posted but still feel the above will be ok.
